Changing tactics. The hunt.

I have been an avid hunter for more years than I care to mention. When I began my life as a hunter, it was more or less an accepted part of life. I don’t want to over romanticize this activity, but it is a special experience.

Perhaps it was mainly that it began in the fall of the year. And fall, in this neck of the woods is a spectacular experience. The colors, the smells, the crisp air. Whatever the trigger is, hunting is a very enjoyable experience.

Except for the killing.

I am going to try another way to hunt. One which features all of the aspects I enjoy about hunting, but a way where both my quarry and I walk away.

I’m gonna do it with a camera.

I’ve always wanted to do wildlife photography. Ever since I was a youngster watching Mutual of Omaha “wild Kingdom. It was a highlight of my Sunday evenings. And helped dampen the knowledge that I had school the next day.

So I am going to continue to hunt. I am going to use a camera and see what becomes of it. I am quite sure that I will be just as bad with my initial pictures as I was with my initial shooting ability. At least I know what to expect.

So it’s “off to the races” so to speak. I hope you will join me as I move along. Hopefully, I may positively impact someone. And impact them as much as Marlin Perkins and “Big” Jim impacted me.

So here we go. Wish me luck.
